Philippines Celebrates Filipino Food Month 2025

The Philippines has officially launched Filipino Food Month (FFM) 2025, a nationwide celebration dedicated to honoring the country's rich culinary heritage. Established under Presidential Proclamation No. 469, s. 2018, FFM is observed every April to preserve and promote Filipino cuisine as an integral part of the nation's identity and culture.

This year's theme, "Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino, Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kultura, at Pagkatao," emphasizes the importance of supporting local agriculture, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and promoting sustainability within the food industry.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Tourism (DOT), National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM) are spearheading the festivities.

DA Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness, Marketing, and Consumer Affairs, Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, highlighted that Filipino cuisine is deeply rooted in the country's history and culture, serving as more than just daily nourishment.

In conjunction with FFM, the Department of Trade and Industry’s Bureau of Market Development, Promotions & OTOP (DTI-BMDPO) is organizing the 2025 DTI Bagong Pilipinas National Food Fair. Scheduled from April 9 to 13 at SM Megamall’s Megatrade Halls 1-3, the event will showcase over 250 exceptional food-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from across the Philippines.

The fair aims to provide a platform for Filipino entrepreneurs to introduce their products and innovations to broader markets, featuring traditional heritage recipes, innovative food products, and culinary delights from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza D. Bautista emphasized the fair's role in empowering entrepreneurs by providing critical opportunities and resources necessary for them to thrive locally and internationally.

Additionally, the 17th Philippine Food Expo is set to take place from April 4-6, 2025, at the World Trade Center in Metro Manila. Organized by the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization Inc. (PHILFOODEX), this event serves as a premier B2B and B2C food trade show, bringing together food manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, and food enthusiasts to explore the latest food trends and business opportunities. The expo will feature live stage demonstrations, cooking competitions, and knowledge challenges, aiming to support locally sourced products and strengthen the Philippine economy.
These events collectively highlight the Philippines' commitment to celebrating and promoting its diverse culinary landscape, supporting local agriculture, and empowering food entrepreneurs nationwide.
